Philippine Airlines’ first flight from Manila to London in 15 years will land at Heathrow this afternoon ready to attend World Travel Market.
PAL’s president Ramon S. Ang will be onboard the inaugural flight today, which is the first European destination PAL has flown into since it was removed from an EU airline blacklist.
The route will now operate five times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
A third of the 349,000 European tourists that visit the Philippines each year are British, with the number now expected to grow with the direct service.
In the first half of this year arrivals to the Philippines from the UK have been at 60, 234.
PAL is looking to also launch direct routes to Manila from Amsterdam, Rome and Paris.
To mark the launch the airline is offering return economy fares from London to Manila from GBP593 per person including taxes and charges. The price is based on travel from now until 3 1May 2014, when booked by 15 November 2013.
