TripAdvisor content to appear in search engine results

TripAdvisor has formed a new partnership with Microsoft that will see the travel site’s content appear alongside internet search engine results.
The agreement will see TripAdvisor’s reviews, ratings, photos and other content displayed in searches made via Microsoft’s search engines, Bing.com and Bing Smart Search. TripAdvisor’s price comparison tools will also be shown alongside the search results.
“Research shows that hotel prices can differ by as much as 25% between different booking providers, and we are focused on helping travellers make an informed decision,” said Nathan Clapton, TripAdvisor’s vice president of global mobile partnerships.
“By offering Bing users an easy way to find the best hotel prices and see reviews, rating and photos from other travellers directly on Bing, we are enhancing the search and planning experience, and hopefully saving them time and money.”
The agreement marks the first time TripAdvisor has partnered with a search engine in this way, and will enable Bing users to access more than 125 million reviews and opinions from the travel search site.
In addition, TripAdvisor is launching its first app for Windows 8.1. Available for download from the Windows Store, the new app is also integrated with Bing Smart Search.
