Embratur has announced it will open a Brazil Tourism Office in the UK as it prepares to ramp up promotional activity around the World Cup and Olympics.
The office is one of seven in Europe that will promote the country’s destinations and products including its June festivals and eco-tourism.
Its UK office will be managed by Lilás Nasicmento who previously carried out Brazil’s state trade tourism advertising campaign ‘Destination of the Year 2012/2014’.
The other offices will open in Germany, Holland, France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
“The 2014 World Cup, with its 12 host cities and more than 100 associated destinations, will help us to diversify the list of destinations and products that the average tourist has in mind when they think of Brazil”, said Flávio Dino, president of Embratur,. “The work of the EBT managers will be to present further tourism opportunities, beyond those already explored in the ‘Sun and Beach’ segment of the industry.”
Currently 155,000 UK tourists visit Brazil a year and is its 11th main source market for visitors.
