Qatar Airways boosts Colombo capacity

Qatar Airways has announced plans to significantly increase the number of seats it offers to Sri Lanka.
From 1 January 2014, the airline will deploy a twin-aisle Boeing 777 aircraft on one of its three daily flights to the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo.
The aircraft will offer 380 seats, 24 in business class and 356 in economy – 164% more than the 144-seat, two-class Airbus A320 that currently operates the route.
“Colombo remains a popular destination in the carrier’s rising Asia Pacific network as we currently operate triple daily services to this city. The added capacity means travellers to and from Colombo will have greater access and also an increasingly competitive product like the Boeing 777,” said Qatar Airways’ country manager for Sri Lanka, Ajay Jacob.
The remaining two daily flights on the route will continue to be operated using the A320 aircraft.
