Ritz-Carlton has launched of new global scheme catering to its youngest guests.
The ‘Ritz Kids’ children’s programme has been undertaken in partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society, and will see new children’s activities rolled out at all Ritz-Carlton hotels, focusing on environmental issues.
“We are very excited to continue our highly successful relationship with a unique individual whose entire life has been spent dedicated to preservation of the environment, with particular attention to marine conservation and education,” said Herve Humler, Ritz-Carlton’s president & chief operating officer.
According to Ritz-Carlton, the new programme will cater to guests between the ages of four and 12, offering “robust activities” at resort properties, and “multiple touch points for children” at city hotels.
Activities will be based around four key elements: water, land, environment and culture, to offer a range of educational programmes focusing on green issues and social development. These include learning about sea life and global environmental issues, as well as art, music, local customs, food and history.
“The fun and exciting activities appeal to a child’s innate love of discovery and sense of curiosity. All kids start out as scientists, constantly asking ‘Why? What’s that? How does it work?’ I have spent my life exploring the natural wonders of the world, seeking to understand how our planet works and how we can better protect it,” said Cousteau.
“Ritz Kids is offering something no other hotel company has before – globally consistent, immersive programming that builds upon the adventures of travel your child will always treasure. These experiences will be remembered long after their stay,” he added.
Cousteau and Ritz-Carlton have also launched a new ‘Ambassadors of the Environment’ eco-travel programme at selected resorts, designed to offer environmental and cultural classes and excursions for both children and adults.
