Marriott International has opened North America’s tallest hotel, in the centre of New York City.
The combined 378-room Courtyard and 261-suite Residence Inn hotels are set in a 68-storey, 230-metre-high tower, making it the tallest single-use hotel in North America.
The US$320 million building is located on the corner of Broadway, close to Central Park and Times Square.
“This opening is a prime example of an ideal dual-branded hotel [and] will surely be both brands’ crown jewel,” said Janis Milham, Marriott’s senior vice president of modern essentials and extended stay.
“The new hotels’ contemporary designs and stunning views coupled with our friendly associates will surely make the property a great ambassador for the bustling city.”
The Courtyard hotel is housed on floors 6-33, while the Residence Inn covers floors 37-65. The two hotels share more than 550m² of meeting space, a 35th floor fitness centre with floor-to-ceiling windows and an outdoor sundeck. The Courtyard also features a restaurant and the Residence Inn offers long-stay amenities like a grocery delivery service, laundry and dry cleaning.
