Dubai saw an 8% increase in UK visitors in 2013, the highest year-on-year increase in the last five years.
A total of 742, 158 UK tourists headed to the emirate last year, with visits up on average 10% from January to March.
September, May and August saw the highest growth figures in UK guests, with the former seeing a 20% rise and the latter posting a 19% boost.
Promoting the destination as a summer and family holiday saw August post the largest number of UK guest nights with a 31% increase to 326, 583.
The average stay was 5.5 nights although those in August averaged at 8.1 nights.
“The increase in UK visitors we saw last year is the highest year-on-year increase in five years – an extremely encouraging start to our Tourism Vision for 2020 that was announced last year,” said Ian Scott, UK & Ireland director at Dubai Tourism. “The breakdown of statistics also shows that both family and summer holidays to Dubai are also on the increase largely due to a greater awareness of what the emirate has to offer these markets.”
