The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) announced the commencement of trial operations of Al Montazah, previously known as Al Jazeera Park. This is in the run up to the grand opening on 13 March.
The revamped park provides a range of services and leisure facilities, including a Water Park, Green Park for events, and a Leisure Park. The trial operation aims to ensure that safety and security standards are in place, especially in the Water Park and electronic games.
On the occasion, HE Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq, said: “The opening of Al Montazah is a new addition to tourism in Sharjah and the UAE. This move will contribute to raising the flow of tourists into the emirate, particularly family tourism.”
The park during the trial period will receive a limited number of visitors, so as to allow the project’s management to monitor efficiency and quality of facilities and services.
HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, director general, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), has welcomed initiation of several new tourism projects in Sharjah including the Al Montazah Park developed by Shurooq at a cost of AED100 million.
Al Montazah boasts three main sections, a 26,000 m2 Water Park, a Green Park for events covering 50,000 m2 and a leisure park covering 50,000 m2, which offers a variety of electronic games. The Green Park will include wide green spaces and venues dedicated to hosting entertainment and social events, as well as a number of world-class restaurants, cafes, a lake for boating, and a mosque.
