Marriott International has announced plans for six new Moxy-branded hotels in Europe in the next two years.

The hotel company will add a total of 1, 469 rooms throughout Europe with the openings, which will start with the launch of Moxy Milan Malpensa Airport in September 2014.

This will be followed by spring openings for Moxy Munich Airport and Berlin Ostahnhof, then in summer Moxy hotels will open in Frankfurt Gateway Gardens and Berlin Airport.

An opening is also in the pipeline at Oslo Exporama, approximately 15 minutes from the airport and city centre.

Marriott expects to sign a further 13 hotels in Europe by the end of this year, with the Moxy brand to reach 150 properties by 2024.

Moxy is one of Marriott’s newest brands and has a focus on technology, social spaces and ‘calming, organic’ colour schemes with an art wall in each room.

“Today’s global traveller is looking for a stylish travel experience with modern technology at an affordable price, said Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe.  “The economy sector is the fastest growing segment in Europe, and we see tremendous opportunity to deliver a product that truly exceeds expectation. With the planned opening of the Moxy Milan Malpensa this year, we are hopeful that we can redefine economy travel for the next generation traveller.”
