AirAsia X has expanded its operations in Japan with the launch of flights to Nagoya – its third destination in the country.
The long-haul low-cost carrier’s inaugural flight to Nagoya’s Chubu Centrair International Airport took off from Kuala Lumpur for the first time on Monday and the route will now operate four times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
The fourth biggest city in Japan, Nagoya becomes AirAsia X’s third destination in the country following Tokyo and Osaka. And Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X, said the Japanese expansion supported the Malaysian government’s policy of driving higher visitor arrivals from Japan.
“This [new route] is very much in line with the government’s tourism agenda, and the airline’s commitment to boost the Malaysian tourism industry as well as increase tourism traffic across our group network,” Osman-Rani said.
“Similarly, with the addition of Nagoya, guests will have more travel options to explore Japan, and we believe Nagoya being a scenic and historical destination will be a popular tourist destination.”
AirAsia X will serve Nagoya using its 377-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft, which includes 12 flat-bed seats in business class.
