Philippine Airlines (PAL) has joined the battle against the shark fin trade.

The airline has adjusted its freight policy to stop the shipment of shark fins aboard all PAL aircraft.

The national carrier said it will circulate a policy “for immediate implementation and strict compliance” with regards to the shark fin policy.

“PAL takes the issue on protection and conservation of endangered marine life seriously, recognising that the company’s long-term interest is and should be consistent with sustainable and responsible business practices,” the airline said in a statement.

PAL becomes the latest Asia Pacific airline to place a ban o shark fin shipments, joining the likes of Cathay Pacific, Asiana Airlines, Korean Air, Qantas and Air New Zealand.
