Qatar Airways lands in Edinburgh

Qatar Airways has introduced five flights a week between Edinburgh and Doha.

The inaugural Edinburgh-Doha flight landed into Edinburgh International Airport at 1315 yesterday, where it was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute and bagpipe parade.

The new route is operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, fitted with a two-cabin configuration, comprising of 22 seats in Business Class and 232 Economy Class seats.

Operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, QR027 departs Doha (DOH) at 0800 and arrives in Edinburgh (EDI) at 1315. The return service QR028, departs Edinburgh the same day at 1445 and touches down in Doha at 2340.

Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Marwan Koleilat said; “The start of the service not only offers travellers from the Scottish capital access to the Middle East in under seven hours, but also a quicker total journey time to other popular destinations in Asia, India and Australasia, through our brand new airline hub, Hamad International Airport.”

Edinburgh will be Qatar Airways third destination in the UK, preceded by London in 1997 and Manchester in 2003. This new Scottish addition to the Qatar Airways route map is the airline’s 141st global destination.
