Starwood Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to launch its stylish W Hotels brand in the northeast Chinese city of Shenyang.
Following the signing of a management agreement with Shenyang Huaqiang Jinlang City Square Properties, the W Shenyang is scheduled to open in 2019 on the city’s central Qingnian Avenue.
“We are delighted to partner with Huaqiang Group to launch the W brand in Shenyang,” said Qian Jin, Starwood’s president for Greater China. “Since W Hotels made its debut in mainland China last year, the brand continues to redefine China’s luxury hotel experience. W Shenyang will offer cutting-edge design, ‘whatever/whenever’ service, bustling bar and restaurant, and insider access to what’s new and next for both guests and locals alike.”
W Shenyang will offer 280 rooms, including 30 suites and an ‘Extreme Wow Suite’ – the brand’s modern interpretation in the traditional Presidential Suite. Facilities will include a 24-hour business centre, spa, fitness centre, indoor heated swimming pool and more than 2,400m² of meeting and event space. In terms of F&B, the hotel will offer four restaurants and bars.
“Shenyang provides an ideal foothold for Starwood’s expanding pipeline with its growing economy and position as a trade hub for Northeast China,” said Franck Huang, the hotel group’s vice president, of acquisition & development for Greater China.
“This opening will strengthen Starwood’s presence in the city and provide an exciting option for affluent travellers who are looking for the epitome of contemporary luxury.”
Starwood is planning to open 12 new W Hotels in the Asia Pacific region by 2019, with more than half these hotels planned for China. Locations will include new properties in Beijing and Shanghai as well as Suzhou, Changsha and Chengdu.
