Kerzer International has opened its first luxury One&Only hotel in Australia.

The One&Only Hayman Island welcomed its first guests today following an US$80 million refurbishment of the private island resort.
The opening was marked by Alan Leibman, chief executive officer of Kerzner International, and Mark DeCocinis, president & chief operating officer of One&Only Resorts, who attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the resort.

“We are excited to begin welcoming guests to One&Only Hayman Island, our first resort in the Asia Pacific region,” said Leibman.

“The combination of this incredible private island in the Great Barrier Reef, the significant investment of US$80 million made by our fantastic partners… and our own One&Only team dedicated to providing guests with amazing experiences through our unique brand of service, represents an exciting addition to the luxury Australian travel market.

“We are confident that the new One&Only experience will bring more Australians and international guests alike to the Great Barrier Reef.”

One&Only Hayman Island will feature a newly-designed pool wing and an all-suite area, with units overlooking the swimming pool and ocean. Each suite will have separate living and dining areas and outdoor decks, while ground floor suites will have direct access to the pool.

The One&Only Hayman wing will feature a series of one-, two- and three-bedroom penthouses, most of which offer ocean views, while the resort will also feature a collection of beach villas and a freestanding private beach house. All these units have private pools and direct access to the beach.

The resort’s main swimming pool has been revamped with private cabanas and daybeds, while there is also a new pool area for families and an adults-only infinity-edged pool. A new One&Only Spa will be added, along with a hair and beauty salon and a fitness centre.

One&Only currently operates resorts in the Maldives, Mauritius, Dubai, the Bahamas, Mexico and South Africa. But its Asia Pacific expansion will continue with the launch of a new resort in Hainan, China.
