Laguna Phuket Golf Club has unveiled the first phase of its redevelopment, with an upgraded front nine holes.
The redesigned course opened on 1 July 2014, revealing major improvements to the new-look front nine, including revamped bunkers and greens.
“We are excited to showcase our new-look front nine holes, state-of-the-art course redesigned by Paul Jansen, lead golf course architect at Faldo Design, and share the experience with our anticipating golfers and members,” said the club’s director of golf, Paul Wilson, who oversaw the upgrade.
“This project sees significant investments made to improve tee box areas, bunkers, green complexes, practice facilities, drainage, irrigation and all playing surfaces.”
Upgrades to the course’s back nine are expected to take another six months to complete, with the fully-revamped 18-hole course scheduled to be operational by 1 January 2015.
“Although these works may cause some inconvenience to our members and guests, we believe they are necessary to bring our course right up to a true world-class standard that will be appreciated by everyone who plays here,” Wilson added.
During the upgrade, members and guests will only be able to play the front nine. But Laguna Phuket Golf Club said golfers can opt to play the front nine twice for a full 18-hole round.
Forming part of the Laguna Phuket integrated resort complex, the Laguna Phuket Golf Club was initially designed as an 18-hole, par 71 course, offering a series of parkland-style holes set among the area’s lagoons.
