Sichuan Airlines has set up a new base in Hangzhou, the capital of eastern China’s Zhejiang province.
The airline, which has its home base in Chengdu, plans to deploy up to six Airbus A320 aircraft at Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan International Airport in July, enabling it to launch a series of new domestic routes.
Already this month, Sichuan Airlines has commenced four weekly flights from Hangzhou to Guangzhou, and a thrice weekly service to Nanning, via Changsha. Then on 2 August, the carrier plans to start three weekly flights from Hangzhou to Beijing.
The Hangzhou launch follows the recent launch of Sichuan Airlines’ new base in Harbin. The airline now operates from eight Chinese cities: Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Sanya, Beijing, Xi’an, Harbin and Hangzhou.
