A new JW Marriott has opened in Zhengzhou which has become the tallest hotel in central China.

The 416-room JW Marriott Hotel Zhengzhou, in the capital of Henan province, is set on the upper floors of the new 60-storey Millennium Royal Plaza building, which rises 280 metres and has been designed in the style of the Songyue Pagoda, a local landmark that dates back 1,500 years.

“Marriott International has already had several successful hotel projects with our owner partner Greenland in China. The opening of JW Marriott Hotel Zhengzhou is another gem in this spectacular collection. We are most pleased to have the opportunity to manage such a magnificent hotel,” said Simon Cooper, president & managing director of Marriott International in Asia.

“This is a significant property as it is our first hotel in Zhengzhou which is an important transportation, business and convention hub in central China. Also it is another proof of the growing popularity of our JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand in this market.”

The new hotel’s rooms and suites located from the 41st to 55th floors of the building, all offering floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the city.

Facilities at the JW Marriott include two restaurants and a lounge on the 38th and 39th floors, plus more than 2,500m² of event space, including a 1,000m² ballroom, six meeting rooms and pre-function area.

The company now plans to open new JW Marriott hotels in Macau, Chongqing, Kunming and Shenzhen over the next 12 months.
