Heathrow and Gatwick post record months

Both Heathrow and Gatwick airports have reported July this year as their busiest month in history as the summer getaway commenced.
Heathrow saw 6.97 million people use the airport last month, an increase of 0.5%, while Gatwick registered a 6% increase to 4.1 million.
While Heathrow saw a slight increase in seats per aircraft to 204, its load factor dipped 0.5% to 82.3%. The airport also revealed Air China will double its services to Beijing from October.
Meanwhile Norwegian’s new US routes have helped Gatwick see a 6.6% rise in North Atlantic traffic, while European routes have seen a 10.5% boost particularly for the business market. Dubai also continues to perform strongly with a 6.7% increase.
In Scotland, Glasgow Airport has reported its busiest July in six years with more than 840,000 passengers. These are up 1.1% year-on-year and were helped along by Glasgow hosting the Commonwealth Games.
