Virgin Holidays has announced plans to open new ‘capsular concessions’ in Tesco superstores in plans to add 29 stores.

The first of the Tesco openings have been revealed in Dover and Knocknagoney, Belfast with another 10 to open later this year.

Sites to open at the end of September include Swindon, Hastings and Basildon while the rest will be operational by the end of November.

The smaller ‘Retail Lite’ units have been designed for customers that have already done their research and want a face to face conversation before they buy.

“These ‘capsule’ outlets are for customers who value a one on one conversation with our experienced retail staff about options before making a booking.  The outlets combine the best design and engagements elements of our established estate – so customers still get that sense of excitement when they book their Virgin holiday – but with an accent on speed, convenience and flexibility,” said Lee Haslett, director of sales trading at Virgin Holidays. “We’ve found the perfect partner in Tesco. We share an absolute commitment to the customer, and a desire to create a shopping experience designed around their needs and lifestyle.”

The Dover and Belfast stores have performed 176% above target in booking volume.
