Travelodge has removed Bibles from its rooms to avoid upsetting non-Christians, according to reports. Travelodge

The chain said the decision was made “in order not to discriminate against any religion”.

The move has angered various Christian groups and a Church of England spokesman said the decision “seems both tragic and bizarre that hotels would remove the word of God for the sake of ergonomic design, economic incentive or a spurious definition of the word ‘diversity’”.

There has also been annoyance at the fact nobody had complained about the presence of the bibles in the drawer.

Guests can ask for the bibles at reception, according to the hotel chain.
