Emirates has launched Airbus A380 services to Frankfurt.
Germany’s largest international air gateway becomes the 30th global destination in Emirates’ A380 network, which is now covered by a fleet of 51 double-decker jets.
“We are proud to fly our A380 to one of the key aviation hubs in Europe,” said Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ executive vice president & chief commercial officer, who was onboard the inaugural flight.
“The financial capital of Germany continues to be a significant point for us so it is only fitting for us to operate our flagship product to the city.
“Deploying larger capacity aircraft like the A380 is fundamental to helping us meet growing passenger demand between this dynamic economic region and the evolving economies of Asia, Africa and the Middle East, through efficient connections via our Dubai hub. The positive effects of more inbound tourism from the Middle East, Gulf and Asia-Pacific regions into Frankfurt will also be demonstrated with the arrival of the A380, based on our experience when we introduced the aircraft to Munich,” he added.
Emirates’ A380 features 519 seats in three classes, including 14 first class suites, 76 flat-bed seats in business class and 429 seats in economy class. The aircraft is also equipped with Wi-Fi.
The new A380 scheduled will see flight EK45 leave Dubai at 0825 and land at Frankfurt Airport at 1315. The return flight, EK46, then departs Frankfurt at 1520 and arrives back in Dubai at 2335.
So far in 2014, Emirates has launched A380 services to Barcelona, London Gatwick, Zurich, Kuwait, Mumbai and Frankfurt. And this network will be further extended to Dallas-Fort Worth, San Francisco and Houston by the end of the year.
In addition to Emirates existing fleet of 51 A380s, the airline has a further 89 on order.
