Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed a contract that will see its W Hotels brand debut in Brisbane.
Scheduled to open in early 2018 as part of a mixed-use development, W Brisbane will be situated on George Street, overlooking the Brisbane River. The hotel will form one of three towers in the new complex.
“W Brisbane marks a significant milestone for Starwood, bringing the dynamic and innovative W brand back to the Pacific region,” said Sean Hunt, regional vice president of Starwood Pacific.
“W Hotels is currently experiencing a wave of growth worldwide and having its presence here in Australia will provide a strong foundation for its continued expansion both locally and across the region.”
The new hotel will feature 305 rooms and suites, plus a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool, three F&B outlets and 960m² of meeting and event space. The surrounding development complex will feature office and retail space plus high-end residences.
W Brisbane will join Starwood’s existing portfolio of 14 properties in Australia, and a pipeline of 15 W Hotels set to open in the Asia Pacific region before 2019. Over the next four years, new W Hotels will debut in Beijing, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai and Jakarta.
