Passengers on a Northern Lights cruise with Hurtigruten that do not get to see the infamous lights will be given another opportunity for free, under a new promise announced by the cruise line today.
The cruise line cannot guarantee clients will see the Aurora Borealis on its cruises but has made its promise to entice more people to try its cruises.
Philip Price from Hurtigruten said: “It has been a truly spectacular couple of years for sightings of the Northern Lights in Northern Norway. We cannot of course guarantee that passengers will see the lights during their voyage (only Mother Nature can do that), but we can do the next best thing which is to promise that if the lights prove elusive, we will give our passengers another opportunity to see them next year”.
“For a while now, Icelanders have been claiming their country is the best place to see the lights, but that simply isn’t true. If you take a Classic Round Voyage with us, you will spend seven days out of the 12 under the key “aurora oval” area. No-one else offers that and it is time we started shouting about it.”
The promise is only running for a limited time though, and passengers must book an 11-night Classic Round Voyage before 30 November 2014, for departure between 1 October 2014 and 31 March 2016.
