Fairmont has signed an agreement to manage its first hotel in central China’s Henan province.
The new-build Fairmont Zhengzhou hotel will be located in the capital of Henan, as part of a mixed-use development in the Zhengdong New Town area of the city.
Scheduled to open in 2018, the 350-room hotel will feature four F&B outlets, approximately 4,000m² of conference and banqueting space, a spa and swimming pool.
“Our expansion into Zhengzhou is significant in that it debuts our presence in a major hub of central China,” said Jennifer Fox, president of Fairmont’s parent company, FRHI International. “It marks another important milestone in our development strategy for China, and signals continued strong growth for us in this very important market.”
Fairmont currently operates four hotels in China – the Fairmont Beijing, Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, Kunshan’s Fairmont Yangcheng Lake and Fairmont Nanjing.
And Fairmont Zhengzhou joins a pipeline that already includes six new hotels scheduled to open in Chengdu (2015), Changsha (2017), Hangzhou (2018), Suzhou (2018), Taiyuan (2019) and Nanning (2019).
