The Taj Group has announced that from 15 November 2014, all of its guests will be offered complimentary Wi-Fi.
This group-wide move marks a first for an Indian hotel chain, and will encompass all 125 Taj properties around the world, including those under the Taj, Vivanta by Taj, Gateway Hotels and Ginger brands.
All guests will be able to connect to the internet for free, both in their room and anywhere in the hotel, on up to three devices for the duration of their stay. Guests who require higher bandwidths will also be given the opportunity to pay to upgrade to a “premium tier”, which also allows them to connect to additional devices.
“Research has shown the increasing importance of staying connected; travellers world over have ranked free Wi-Fi as one of the most essential and valuable hotel amenities,” said Rakhee Lalvani, Taj’s director of public relations.
“It is our constant endeavour to raise the standard of personalised service for business and leisure travellers. We believe that with this value added service of free Wi-Fi, our guests will enjoy an enhanced experience during their stay at the Taj.”
Taj cited global research undertaken by SmartBrief, which found that 85% of travellers wanted free Wi-Fi in hotels, and 38% stated that its availability was a key factor in selecting a hotel.
