Marriott International has launched a new luxury hotel in the western Chinese metropolis of Chongqing.

The new 454-room JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing not only marks Marriott’s return to the city; it also becomes the first luxury JW Marriott hotel in the west of China.

Set in the Chongbin Poly International Plaza, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Chongqing, the new hotel will feature 454 rooms and suites, five restaurants, an executive lounge, lobby lounge, indoor swimming pool, spa and fitness centre.

For the MICE market, there is also 2,200m² of meeting space, including two ballrooms and 11 other function rooms.

“China is a global economic powerhouse and Chongqing is an important hub in its western region. It has been 15 years since Marriott International first opened a hotel here. Now, we are delighted to open the new JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing, bringing the luxury JW Marriott brand into the market,” said Henry Lee, Marriott’s chief operations officer for Greater China.

“JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing reflects the sophistication, style and exceptional service, attributes that have grown synonymous with the JW Marriott brand worldwide.”

The JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing becomes the brand’s eighth hotel in China, following existing properties in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Zhengzhou.
