The growing potential of Salalah as a tourism hot spot is fast being recognised. Catching up on this trend is Qatar Airways with its announcement of four new services by next February on this route.
With effect from 16 December 2014, the airline is offering three additional flights per week, and from 3 February 2015, another additional flight per week. A total of eight flights per week to the Sultanate of Oman.
Qatar Airways commenced services to Salalah in May 2013. Muscat is already served 28 times-a-week and Salalah four-times-a-week, the additional flights to Salalah will take Qatar Airways’ capacity across Oman to a total of 36 weekly services.
Qatar Airways group chief executive, HE Akbar Al Baker said: “We look forward to contributing to help further boost leisure and business tourism.”
With the additional flights, Salalah will now have four early morning departures as well as four early evening departures. The route is being operated by an Airbus A320 with a two-class configuration of 12 seats in business class and up to 132 seats in economy.
