Travel members recognised in New Year’s Honours

Former Virgin Holidays managing director Amanda Wills and ex-VisitBritain chief Sandie Dawe have been named in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.
Wills has been awarded a CBE for her work in the British travel industry and charities which have included the role as trustee of Kids’ Out and as a board member of Breast Cancer Campaign’s Unlock the Cure appeal.
Since departing Virgin Holidays in May 2014 Wills is now chairman of travel guide Urbanologie and also supports UK start-ups.
Dawe was also recognised in the list for her services in the tourism industry after working at VisitBritain for 23 years. Receiving a CBE in the honours, Dawe announced her departure from the tourism agency earlier this year and is now a board member of London & Partners.
Michael Brian Cantlay, chairman of VisitScotland has been awarded an OBE for services to the tourism and hospitality industry in Scotland, while the owner of the Marcliffe hotel and spa in Aberdeen Stewart Spence has been awarded an MBE.
Simon Vincent, executive vice-president and president EMEA at Hilton Worldwide has also been awarded an OBE for services to the hospitality industry.
