Cruise & Maritime Voyages has welcomed Magellan into its fleet.
The new flagship for the cruise line will now reposition to Greece for a drydock period before sailing to the UK for launch events in early March.
The CMV livery will be added to the ship during refurbishments which will also update some facilities.
The cruise line’s commercial director Chris Coates said the ship has already been popular with guests.
He explained: “The addition of Magellan to our fleet brings a new dimension in cruising to CMV. Since launching Magellan’s programme on 3 November 2014, we have sold 60% of her capacity which clearly demonstrates the strong demand for our product and smaller ship cruising.”
Magellan’s first sailing is the ‘Solar Eclipse & Northern Lights’ itinerary departing 15 March.
Magellan was previously operating under the Grand Holiday name and is one of a string of new ships to be introduced. Next week Azores will start to operate year-round sailings from Bristol Avonmouth and in April Astor will join the fleet operating a Round Britain cruise. The ship will then be transferred to the Germany-facing TransOcean brand which CMV acquired in January.
