ABTA and TripAdvisor finalists in WTTC awards

ABTA and TripAdvisor are among the finalists in the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) Tourism for Tomorrow Awards.
The two are of 15 that have been shortlisted for five awards which are based on sustainable tourism principles such as community work and heritage.
ABTA has been nominated for its Global Welfare Guidance for Animals in Tourism in the Innovation Award category, along with TripAdvisor’s GreenLeaders programme and Red Sustainable Travel in Mexico which is aiming to help tourism in Mexico’s Baja California.
The winners will be chosen during the WTTC Global Summit in Madrid, Spain in April.
Other nominees include Ljubljana, Taiwan’s Northeast and Yilan Coast and Sozopol, Bulgaria for the destination award and the Fenyan Ecolodge, Jordan; Grootbos Nature Reserve, South Africa and Reality Tours & Travel, India for the community accolade.
Guatemala’s Laguna Lodge Eco-Resort & Nature Reserve, Rivers Fiji and the Soneva Group are listed in the environment award, while the People Award could go to Confortel, Spain; the US Global Travel & Tourism Partnership or the Mountain Shepherds Initiative, India.
