Louvre Hotels Group has opened a new hotel in Indonesia, marking the start of a major year of growth across the country.

The new Golden Tulip Essential Pontianak launched in West Kalimantan last week, becoming the group’s third Indonesian hotel. But Louvre’s nationwide growth will now accelerate, with 11 new hotels expected to open across Indonesia in 2015.

Louvre first entered Indonesia in late 2012 with the launch of the 138-room Golden Tulip Galaxy Banjarmasin. It then added the Golden Tulip Essential Denpasar in Bali, and has now moved into Pontianak.

And this year will see continued growth of the upscale Golden Tulip brand in Indonesia, with plans for four new properties in Lombok, Tangerang and the Seminyak and Kuta areas of Bali. The luxury Royal Tulip will also arrive in Indonesia in 2015, with the launch of hotels in Bandung and Bali, as will the midscale Kyriad brand, with new properties in Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Pekanbaru and Pekalongan.

This means that by the end of 2015, Louvre expects to operate a total portfolio of 14 Indonesian hotels, covering three brands in 11 destinations.

The latest hotel, the 186-room Golden Tulip Essential Pontianak, offers free Wi-Fi, meeting space and a range of modern facilities.

It also brings two of Golden Tulip’s new F&B concepts to Indonesia; ‘Branche’ is the brand’s signature restaurant concept that “combines the design of tea lounge and restaurant”, while the ‘Copacabana Pool & Lounge’ is designed as a stylish semi-outdoor space.

“We aim to be the market leader as the first hotel in the city that offers… the best F&B outlets seen,” explained Franco Ray, general manager of the new Pontianak hotel.

Based in Paris, Louvre now operates more than 1,200 hotels in 42 countries.
