IHG has continued its growth in China’s UNESCO-listed ancient town of Lijiang, with the opening of a new luxury InterContinental hotel.
The new InterContinental Lijiang Ancient Town Resort has opened its doors, following a renovation that has seen the property upgraded from a Crowne Plaza. It is the second IHG property in the popular tourist area, joining the existing Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town.
Designed in a traditional style, the InterContinental Lijiang features a range of buildings with curved roofs set among 51,000m² landscaped gardens and courtyards. There are 274 rooms and suites, plus two restaurants, a spa and a ballroom able to handle up to 500 people.
Dating back 800 years, Lijiang is famed for its narrow cobbled streets, traditional architecture and bubbling streams.
