China Southern Airlines has announced plans to launch flights to Nairobi.

Commencing on 5 August 2015, the airline will operate three weekly flights to Kenya’s capital, direct from its home base of Guangzhou.

Flights will depart the Chinese city’s Baiyun International Airport every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 0045, arriving at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 0700.

The return service will then leave the Kenyan capital at 1335 and get back to Guangzhou at 0550 the next day.

China Southern will serve the new route using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Currently Kenya Airways, China Southern’s partner in the SkyTeam alliance, is the only carrier that operates flights between Guangzhou and Nairobi.
