Longjiang Air, a new start-up carrier in northeastern China’s Heilongjiang province, is set to launch its first flights in December this year.
The new carrier, which will be based at Harbin’s Taiping International Airport, is being financed by a local gold merchant and will launch with an initial capital investment of CNY800 million (US$130m).
Initially, Longjiang Air will launch routes to regional cities in northeast China, including Daqing, Qiqihar, Mudanjiang, Jixi, Jiamusi, Heihe, Jiagedaqi, Mohe and Yichun.
It then plans to expand further afield, connecting to major Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Sanya, Kunming, Hangzhou and Shenzhen.
The carrier will operate both Airbus A320 and Embraer E190 aircraft, with plans to build a fleet of 30 aircraft by the end of 2020.
