Qatar ready for F1 Grand Prix despite non-signing of contract

Formula One chief, Bernie Ecclestone, has told Forbes that while Qatar still hasn’t signed a contract to host an F1 Grand Prix race, the likelihood of the state doing so is “looking up”.
“We are looking at all possibilities there,” he told the company.
“Qatar want to do something if they can.”
Apparently a handshake agreement was made 10 years ago that any future races in the region would have to get approval from Bahrain, who hosted the first race in the region in 2004.
Bahrain gave the go ahead for Abu Dhabi to host races, Ecclestone said.
Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah, the president of Qatar’s motor sport federation, said a race would be held in 2016/ 2017.
