Fiji will welcome the Boeing 787 Dreamliner for the first time later this year, when Air New Zealand upgrades its Auckland-Nadi service to the new aircraft.
Commencing on 27 November 2015, Air New Zealand will deploy its 302-seat B787-9 to Fiji for the southern hemisphere summer season, running until March 2016. This will mark a capacity increase of approximately 8,000 seats compared to last year.
This will be the first time the Dreamliner has operated to the Pacific Islands.
“Fiji continues to be a hugely popular destination for Kiwis with the number of Kiwis travelling there growing steadily over the past three years,” said Air New Zealand’s chief sales & commercial officer, Cam Wallace.
“We’re thrilled to be able to meet growing demand for Fiji as a destination with more seats and the exceptional Dreamliner experience.”
The Boeing 787-9 will initially operate two new weekly services (Saturdays and Sundays) between Auckland and Nadi, rising to five during the peak mid-December to late January period, with the addition of Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday flights.
Air New Zealand will also add an extra Airbus A320 service every Sunday during the summer season.
