The airport serving Indonesia’s third largest city will close on Thursday and Friday, to allow officials to arrive for the Asian-African Conference Commemoration (AACC).
State-run airport operator, PT Angkasa Pura (AP), confirmed that Bandung‘s Husein Sastranegara International Airport will close from 3pm on Thursday to 5pm on Friday, to handle the private jets used to carry Asian and African leaders to the city.
“We are still awaiting confirmation on which leaders will arrive using private jets. We have allocated slots for only eight airplanes,” AP’s general manager, Yayan Hendrayani, was quoted saying by the Jakarta Post.
“All [airlines] have moved their flights forward or backward. They have also shifted their flight routes to [Jakarta’s] Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” he added.
Bandung Airport, which is used by carriers including Garuda Indonesia, AirAsia, Lion Air and SilkAir, usually handles up to 7,000 passengers per day.
