China Eastern Airlines will streamline the transit experience for its passengers in Kunming next month.

From 1 May 2015, the airline will enable passengers transferring to international flights at Kunming’s Changshui International Airport to receive boarding passes for both the first and second legs of their journey, and check their baggage through to the final destination.

The new system applies to routes connecting five international cities (Paris, Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong) with 15 Chinese cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi’an, Changsha, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Nanning, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, Lanzhou, Harbin, Lijiang and Jinghong), via Kunming.

China Eastern is the largest airline in southwest China’s Yunnan province, with more than 100 aircraft based in Kunming.
