Delta Air Lines kept a plane full of frustrated passengers happy recently, by ordering pizzas for everyone.
The flight from Philadelphia to Atlanta was diverted to Knoxville due to bad weather, where passengers were stuck on the tarmac waiting for conditions to improve.
During the delay, Delta put in a call to Marco’s Pizzas, who promptly delivered 40 pizzas to the tarmac.
“I was a bit taken back at first,” said Marco’s Pizzas’ manager, Ashley Akins. “We never delivered pizzas for airline passengers before, but it sounded like a great idea – an airline pizza party. My focus was getting the 40 pizzas done fast so that we could boast an ‘on-time’ delivery.”
The order formed part of a new Delta initiative to provide food and drink to passengers when weather disrupts its operations.
