More than 275 delegates, including 200 travel agents, are expected to attend the convention, which takes place in Amsterdam on 22 & 23 November. The five ships attending the event for the first time are Amadeus River Cruises’ Amadeus Silver II; Scenic Tours’ Scenic Jasper; A-Rosa’s A-Rosa Viva; Tauck’s Inspire and Uniworld’s River Empress.  They will be joined by AMA Waterways’ AmaCerto and CroisiEurope’s MS Lafayette.

Travel agents will also be able to take advantage of a trade fair and conference sessions covering how travel agents can grow their share of this lucrative market.

With the popularity of river cruising continuing to increase, CLIA UK & Ireland has introduced specific events covering river cruise holidays designed to help travel agents take advantage of this growing sector of cruising.  A daytime River Cruise Masterclass is taking place in London on 7 July and will feature dedicated training on all aspects of river cruising including how to increase sales, together with the opportunity to hear from CLIA member river cruise operators.

On 17 September, a River Cruise Showcase will take place in Manchester when agents can take advantage of networking with 12 different river operators offering itineraries across the world.

CLIA UK & Ireland director, Andy Harmer said: “We have seen a number of river ships launched this year and I’m delighted Convention delegates will see firsthand two of these new vessels – Scenic Jasper and Amadeus Silver II.  There is so much investment being made in new, innovative ships and the ever-increasing choice and diversity of itineraries in Europe and further afield means it’s no surprise that more UK passengers than ever are opting for river cruises as their holiday choice.”
