In a recent development, it has been recorded that ‘Summer Surgery tourists’ are flocking to UAE for cosmetic surgery.
This was revealed by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital (AACSH) along with the fact that medical tourism is on the rise thanks to various Dubai Health Authority initiatives including ‘Be Beautiful in Dubai’.
The Dubai Health Authority is inviting people to buy wellness and cosmetic surgery packages over the summer, through a ‘Be Beautiful in Dubai’ campaign, and have the procedures carried out later in the year.
According to the report ‘UAE Healthcare Sector Outlook 2020’, issued by RNCOS, the UAE healthcare industry is expected to grow at seven percent during 2015-2020. Medical tourism is one of the key factors for driving this growth, which is also affiliated with increase in demand for cosmetic surgery.
As per recent hospital statistics, most popular surgical procedures during summer are liposuction – making up 45% of all procedures followed by breast surgery (31%) and body lift surgery (10%). Of patients visiting the hospital during summer, a staggering 27% travel from outside the GCC and MENA regions, with 35% travelling from within the Middle East.
