More than half of all new hotels currently under construction in the Asia Pacific region are located in China, a new report has found.

In its latest Construction Pipeline Report for the region, STR Global revealed that there are 1,031 hotels under construction in Asia Pacific, comprising 260,215 rooms. And 56% of these rooms (145,167 in 452 hotels) are being developed in China.

This is more than five times greater than the country with the second most rooms under construction, Indonesia (27,243 rooms in 148 hotels). India (26,159 rooms in 158 hotels) and Malaysia (10,806 rooms in 39 hotels) also have strong pipelines.
