Sichuan Airlines goes international from Harbin

Sichuan Airlines is planning to expand its international operations with the launch of a new operating base in Harbin, the capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang province.
The Chengdu-based carrier signed an agreement with the local government last week, in an aim to ramp up its operations out of Harbin’s Taiping International Airport.
Currently Sichuan Airlines deploys eight Airbus A320 aircraft at the airport, operating more than 220 weekly flights on 21 routes to 27 Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Kunming.
But under the latest plans, Sichuan Airlines will launch international routes from Harbin to Japan, South Korea and Russia’s Far East, as well as expanding its domestic network.
Harbin will become the airline’s fourth operating base in China, following Chengdu, Chongqing and Kunming.
