Emirates expands Asian connectivity with Bangkok Airways

Emirates has significantly expanded its network in Southeast Asia with the signing of a codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways.
Under the agreement, Emirates’ international passengers will be able to connect to 19 routes in Southeast Asia, bringing 14 new destinations Dubai-based airline. Emirates will place its ‘EK’ code on Bangkok Airways’ routes to a number of Southeast Asian destinations, including Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Krabi, Trat, Sukhothai, Siem Reap, Yangon and Mandalay.
Passengers travelling with Emirates from Dubai to Bangkok, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore will be able connect to Bangkok Airways’ flights.
“Our new codeshare agreement with Bangkok Airways will provide our passengers with increased choice, flexibility and ease of connection to different cities across Southeast Asia to and from Dubai, ultimately offering a smoother, more convenient travel experience,” said Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ executive vice president & chief commercial officer.
“Emirates already offers six daily services to Bangkok, and from December, four of these services will be operated by our flagship A380 aircraft. This provides many options to connect to the region as part of our new codeshare.”
Bangkok Airways’ senior vice president of network management, Peter Wiesner, called the codeshare agreement “another important milestone and an exciting development in the continued growth of Bangkok Airways”.
Bangkok Airways operates 31 routes to 24 Asian airports. All Emirates’ passengers on Bangkok Airways flights will receive all their boarding passes on check-in at their first international departure point.
