ANA reveals two more Star Wars jets

ANA has confirmed that two more of its aircraft will be decorated with a Star Wars-themed livery, as part of its partnership with Disney.
The Japanese carrier previous unveiled details of an R2-D2 Dreamliner, which will be painted to resemble the popular droid in the Star Wars movies. And now it has revealed plans for two more themed aircraft; one Boeing 777 based on BB-8, a brand new character from the forthcoming movie, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, and a Boeing 767 that will showcase both R2-D2 and BB-8.
“We’re thrilled to unveil the designs of our new Star Wars themed planes, and I’m sure fans across the world will love the look,” said Osamu Shinobe, president & CEO of ANA. “We look forward to providing our passengers with an engaging in-flight experience as they travel our planet.”
The three Star Wars jets will operate on both international and domestic routes. On 18 October 2015, the R2-D2 jet will go into service on the Tokyo–Vancouver route, before being rolled out to other destinations including Seattle, San Jose, Munich, Paris, Brussels, Sydney, Beijing and Jakarta.
Then in November 2015, the dual R2-D2/BB-8 aircraft will start operating domestic Japanese routes. And finally in March 2016, the BB-8 jet will launch on international routes to North America. The exact destinations have not been confirmed, but they are expected to include New York, Chicago and Houston.
As well as featuring the Star Wars artwork, the aircraft will also feature special in-flight decorations, such as headrest covers, paper napkins and cups featuring Star Wars characters. And all six of the existing Star Wars films will be available on ANA’s in-flight entertainment systems on international routes – the first time in history that these movies have been offered via IFE.
