The Safehotels Alliance, which assesses hotel and conference security, has certified its first property in Asia Pacific.
The Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok has received Premium level certification after completing the Safehotels audit process, in which it exceeded all evaluation criteria.
The move follows the recent signing of an agreement between Safehotels Alliance and Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, which becomes the first major hotel group to use the certification programme on a worldwide basis.
“It is a great honour to attain this type of certification,” said Peter Feran, general manager of the Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok. “Our hotel is in a very busy downtown area, so we can never be too cautious. We take safety and security seriously and we’re especially pleased we’ve not just met requirements but far exceeded them. ”
Bert van Walbeek, vice president of Safehotels Alliance, said the certification shows that the hotel “focuses on key elements of guest safety, personal property and the right response if there is an incident or any kind of emergency during a stay”.
Safehotels Alliance has now certified 163 hotels in 60 destinations in 33 countries.
