Nepal, Sri Lanka plan direct flights

Travellers could soon be able to fly direct between Nepal and Sri Lanka, with airlines in both countries revealing plans to launch new routes.
Nepal Airlines and Mihin Lanka Airlines are both planning to commence direct services between Kathmandu and Colombo, as part of their governments’ plans to boost connectivity across the South Asian region.
Nepal Airlines’ managing director, Sugat Ratna Kansakar, was reported saying that his airline has already applied for permission to launch the new Kathmandu-Colombo flights, and is awaiting the green light. Mihin Lanka has already obtained permission to launch flights.
Sri Lanka is Nepal’s fourth largest visitor source market, accounting for more than 37,500 arrivals to the mountainous country in 2014.
