Marriott International has continued to expand its portfolio in China with the launch of its second property in Chongqing.
Following the opening of a JW Marriott hotel in Chongqing late last year, the company has now launched its flagship Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand in the city.
The brand new Chongqing Marriott forms part of the Guorui Centre development and offers 341 rooms and suites located from the 30th to 48th floors of the tower, providing mountain, city and Yangtze River views through floor-to-ceiling windows.
The property also features restaurants, a 50th floor rooftop bar, an indoor heated swimming pool, 24-hour gymnasium, two ballrooms and five function rooms.
“Marriott International has over 80 hotels in Greater China. This opening demonstrates our aggressive growth plan as we expect to more than double our presence in the country,” said Henry Lee, Marriott’s chief operations officer for Greater China.
“The Chongqing Marriott Hotel has the best of both worlds in terms of location. It has the convenience of being close to the business districts and the international airport as well as being situated in the proximity of beautiful surrounding nature.”
Marriott International now operates 87 properties in China, under its Marriott, JW Marriott, Courtyard, Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance and Marriott Executive Apartment brands.
