Air New Zealand has unveiled its new flagship lounge at Auckland International Airport.

At more than 2,000m², the new lounge is significantly larger than the previous facility and can seat more than 375 passengers. Overlooking the runway, the lounge also features a covered outdoor terrace and fireplace.

“With a growing network and customer base, the number of high value customers using our lounge has grown and one of the most common pieces of feedback we receive on our Auckland International Lounge is around space,” said Air New Zealand’s CEO, Christopher Luxon.

“This new lounge is significantly larger than the previous space and can accommodate around 40% more customers. Also recognising that our customers travel for different reasons and have different needs, we’ve created a mix of separate zones to offer the upmost comfort and convenience for those looking to relax, refresh or get some work done before they fly,” he added.

The lounge now features 24 different styles of seating, a new F&B area overseen by a resident chef, a central bar area, a kids’ area modelled on a Kiwi tree house, a business zone with Wi-Fi and printing facilities, more than 600 power points and USB outlets, and large digital screens displaying images of New Zealand.

The opening of the new Auckland International Lounge forms part of a four-year, NZ$100 million (US$63m) programme to redevelop Air New Zealand’s lounge network.
