Philippine Airlines will increase capacity on its Manila–New York route this month, with the deployment of a new Boeing 777 aircraft to the Big Apple.
The B777-300ER aircraft will be launched on the route on 26 October, offering 370 seats – 42 in business class and 328 in economy. This marks a capacity increase of 46% compared to the 254-seat Airbus A340 that currently operates the route.
The B777 will also feature seatback in-flight entertainment, Wi-Fi, power sockets and USB ports.
PAL serves the Manila-New York JFK route with a stop in Vancouver in both directions.
“Using the B777 to the US mainland enables us to achieve our goal of operating our long-haul flights efficiently and economically. With this shift, passengers on the route will experience PAL’s trademark Filipino service in the comfort of the modern B777,” said PAL’s president & chief operating officer, Jaime J. Bautista.
At present, PAL utilises B777s on its San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto flights. It will also take delivery of two more B777s in 2016, allowing it to retire more of its A340s.
